Hello all who have volunteered to help or bring goodies to our humbly coordinated bake sale this Sunday June 22, 1pm - 3pm (or later if you can volunteer at a table.)

First, a huge thank you.

We received an email from Moveon.org today saying that because we had over 20 people volunteering (actually we have 33 as of Thursday evening -- and that's not even including friends who just said they'd come but didn't sign up.) So, we should consider a few new options, they say, to extend the coordination and maximize the opportunities. Thus, this wiki and our efforts to coordinate our new Venice bakesale community before Sunday.

Staffing Tables / Starting "Satellite Venice Bake Sales"
Are you able to set up a "Satellite Venice Bake Sale" at a location close to the original one scheduled in front of our house on 6th and Santa Clara Ave? Can you staff a table past 3pm?
More details, suggested locations, and to get it started.

Who's Bringing What?
With this large of a group, it makes sense to better coordinate to make sure we have a nice selection of goodies for folks to choose from -- including drinks, non-sugary things, and more.
More details on what's needed and to (re)signup for what you can bring.

Help Advertise!

Send emails to your friends, but we also need help to hang posters around the 'hood Sunday before 1pm.
More details and signup to help.

More info on our event...
We chose to host this event for a few reasons:
1. We desparately want Obama to win!
2. We believe in community organizing and wish to participate in this new experiment of Internet-driven democracy. (see Democracy 2.0 for more on this notion.)
3. It's Zeke's 12th birthday, and it's a perfect way for he and his friends to experience a birthday that's about giving and receiving. Please be sure to wish him happy birthday! But also note, we must move shut down our bake sale at 3pm to move on to other birthday activities.

We're at the corner of 6th and Santa Clara Ave. in Venice. Accessible to all, on the street corner where Arnie the beloved dog use to live. Kitty corner from the original Abbot Kinney house. Just look for the Venetian California bungalow with large porch, yellow fence, and beautiful flowers. There you will find us.

Also, check out our friends Julia and family's bake sale in Irvine (in case you happen to be heading down that way after our sale.) Her 11-yr old daughter provided the artwork!

Thank you all, and we'll see you on Sunday (and perhaps talk to you before that to coordinate.)
Zeke, Ava, and Sue
